I decided that since Addie had settled down for a short nap, I would do a little updating on the ole blog. Things around our house, are pretty regular. We are still eating about the same, sleeping about the same, and well, I guess she's up a little more often so that is different than normal. But exciting and a lot more fun all at the same time. Our friends Natalie and Daniel McKim posted a comment on our last post so I thought that I would use their questions as a "prompt" for this post. Yes Natalie is a teacher, and so am I, so a prompt was just what I needed to get motivated to update!!! lol. Here goes....
"So far what has been the most challenging part of parenting you thought you were prepared for but found out quickly you were not? What has been the biggest joy that you never would have expected?"
So far, I'd say that the most challenging thing has been getting up in the middle of the night when I really don't want to. I obviously knew that between colb and I...ONE of us would be getting up..however it's just really hard when you just fell asleep, and deep slumber is just moments away. But she's such a good baby, it is usually just a matter of sticking a paci back in her mouth or a 30 minute feeding/changing. Then all is good in the realm of happy sleeping!!! Also taking her to the dr was awful...when he made her so mad by squirting saline solution in her nose...ah!!! I'm not going to lie..there were tears swelling in my eyes!
The biggest joy? For me it has definately been watching her facial expressions. She's soooo active and is really getting to the cooing stage. I love listening to her little grunts turn into partial "sounds" it's the funnest thing!!! Also, in the beginning we rejoiced in a stinky diaper. Addie wasn't going #2 on a daily basis....or on a regular basis for that matter. So, there for a while it was a very exciting thing to realize that all those stinky farts had worked up to something...more than just a fart. However now that things are regulated...I find joy every time I realize that it only took 5 wetwipes to clean things up instead of 10!
I just got the call that our professional pictures are done, Colbs parents are picking them up today and bringing them up with them tomorrow!!! I am hoping that we will be able to put them on the web...I don't know if there will be a copyright on them though...so keep your fingers crossed!!! Until then...here are a few pictures to keep you entertained! lol
This picture was taken on Thursday (3 1/2 weeks old). I put this outfit on her thinking that it would be "a little big" however, it "fit just right" AHHH my baby is getting so big!!!
This picture was taken Wednesday evening. Addie was sitting in her boppy pillow on Colbs lap (as he played nascar on playstation) and he took a time out to take a picture of our little sweetie. I think that's a partial smile I see......
